# Postern

> Postern is a self-hosted personal context gateway. It gives an agent one
> MCP surface over the sectors of a person's life: finance, mail, calendar,
> contacts, health, and home. The owner grants each agent its own sectors,
> and every sector starts denied. Postern writes every visit to a record it
> only ever appends to. An agent can act on a source where the source allows
> it — today that source is Home Assistant. Postern runs on the owner's own
> hardware, so an agent connects to the owner's Postern and never to a
> Postern cloud. Apache-2.0.
